Fishing for Growth: Seatrace International’s Investment in Northern Samar
At Seatrace International, we are excited to announce our latest initiative aimed at supporting sustainable fishing and boosting the local economy in Northern Samar. As part of our continued commitment to delivering high-quality seafood and empowering local communities, Seatrace is exploring new investment opportunities in the province.
Seatrace International, a division of TAO Corporation and FSSC 22000 certified, is renowned for exporting premium seafood to markets in the United States, European Union, and United Arab Emirates. Led by our COO Christian Schmidradner—who also founded the Philippines Sustainability Movement—Seatrace continues to be a driving force for sustainable seafood practices across the country.
In a recent stakeholders meeting held in Laoang, we had the opportunity to engage with local fisherfolk from Mapanas, Gamay, Palapag, and Laoang, discussing the immense potential of Northern Samar’s fisheries. With over 100 yellowfin tuna caught daily, the province presents a significant opportunity for growth in both domestic and international markets.
To support the local fishing community, Seatrace is planning the establishment of an ice plant and a tuna buying station in Rawis, Laoang. These facilities will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and freshness of the tuna, providing local fisherfolk with a reliable market and ensuring they receive fair prices for their catch.
As a trusted supplier of top-quality seafood to prestigious hotels, resorts, and restaurants worldwide—including City of Dreams Manila, Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort, Shangri-La at the Fort Manila, Solaire Resort and Casino, and Okada Manila—Seatrace is proud to continue our journey of sustainability and excellence.
This investment is set to create new jobs, strengthen the local economy, and promote sustainable fishing practices in Northern Samar. We look forward to working closely with the community to enhance the region’s seafood industry and ensure that the highest-quality tuna reaches both local and global markets.
