As one of the initiative's first partners, SeaTrace International proudly participated in the Better Seafood Philippines Summit, signifying a significant milestone. This historic event, organized by USAID Philippines and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Central Office in collaboration with the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) and the Fish Right program, drew over 200 participants from diverse sectors, including the seafood industry, fishing communities, government, and civil society organizations.

The Path to Responsible Seafood

The summit, held at the Novotel Manila Araneta City on September 14, 2023, signified the start of a new era for Better Seafood Philippines. At its center, this initiative aims to make locally accessible seafood that is harvested responsibly. During the inaugural Responsible Seafood Summit, attendees learned the origins and stories behind locally sourced seafood during an unforgettable banquet.

SeaTrace's Key Function

SeaTrace International performed a pivotal role at the summit, speaking at both the market and traceability workshop sessions. This participation demonstrates our dedication to furthering responsible seafood practices and promoting industry-wide traceability.

In addition, SeaTrace was honored to receive a Partnership Recognition from USAID, SFP, and Better Seafood Philippines in recognition of our commitment to sustainable seafood sourcing and community support.

As a sign of our dedication, SeaTrace sponsored an entire MSC-certified yellowfin tuna from Mindoro, reiterating our commitment to sustainable procurement practices and the conservation of our oceans.
